Inspired~~~

I'd say I'm rather fortunate to meet this bunch of medical doctors. Dr. Lee TC, especially, he's like the best doctor I've ever seen so far. He's a physician. Despite being a specialist, he believes "touch" is very important. It is part of the healing. By touching patient, doctor finds out the problem and at the same time comforts the patient, making patient feel the doctor cares, Sadly, this is what most of the doctors don't practice. I've seen doctors who never wanna lay a hand on patients. Makes me wonder why...

Once, when I reached hospital, I saw Dr. Lee applying moisturizing lotion for an unconscious elderly male patient very carefully and gently. He made sure every inch of the patient's skin is moisturized. That moment I was amazed~!!!! When he saw me, he explained how lotion will prevent skin cracks which is significant for that patient as patient is diabetic. By simple step, diabetic ulcer can be prevented. The way he cares for his patients really amaze me. For many other doctors, such a thing, they would have ordered the nurses to do it. Not only that, he also taught me, even though being a specialist, it does not mean you only do talking, bending over to perform physical examination is also essential as it sets a good example for the young doctors. True enough, I see him examine the patients, checking the vital signs all by himself and the MOs will document his findings. Another thing worth mentioning about him is, he'll come to the ward very much earlier than any other doctors just to go through all the patients' condition before the ward round starts. Just for your information, ward round starts at 8am. But Dr.Lee usually starts doing ward round (which is 745am) when all the others (including me) has not arrived. He is definitely a role model for all the doctors. This is my first time seeing such a responsible doctor.

Dr. Lee is not just a caring responsible good doctor, he's also a very nice superior. I've seen how MOs being badly treated by their specialists. Dr. Lee changed my view on this. He never raise his voice or get angry when MOs bother him with cases. And he's forever willing to drop by to see the referred patients himself. I'm hoping to get doctor like him to work with. It's so pleasant to work with doctors like him. I really look up to Dr. Lee TC. Please pray for this doctor may he be blessed.

Besides having an angel like specialist to be my supervisor during this selective posting in HSI, I also fortunate enough to meet Dr. Kam, who is also from IMU, many years senior of mine, another caring good doctor who is likely to follow Dr. Lee's footsteps, Dr. Lim, another IMU senior, very cool, sometimes abit scary, asked me many questions that I couldn't answer (except for one on spleenomegaly), but still nice doctor, Dr. Jolyn, very gentle and friendly, taught me the most procedures (one of them being chest tube removal involving suturing), also the one I had oncall with, Dr. Aniza, cute petite doctor who gave me chance to do case presentations and didn't scold me even though I didn't do quite well, and all the rest of nurses who allowed me to help them out with taking blood, ABG, etc. All of them are nice people to work with. Also, not to forget Dr. Yoong, tall and thin consultant who never speak mandrin with chinese, he is the most important as he arranged me to be supervised under Dr. Lee's crew. If not I wouldn't have had chance to meet these wonderful people.

I would say, my selective posting in HSI is really meaningful. I really enjoy it!^^
